Hill City Music Repair is a small, family owned business, which strives to provide customers with the best service experience possible. Our knowledge of music, education and repair combined with friendly and helpful service are what make us the best choice for your instrument care needs.
A member of NAPBIRT (National Association of Professional Repair Technicians), owner Matthew Yates brings eight years of instrument repair and eight years of music education experience to the business. Matt holds a BM in music education from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a focus in trombone performance. During school he trained as an apprentice to one of the industries leading repair technicians, John Blythe. After graduation, Matt continued to work at the shop where he trained for a couple of years while beginning his career as a middle and high school band director. After an eight year career as a band director, Matt and his family are now committed to seeing Hill City Music Repair become a staple business in Virginia, offering high quality repair and superior customer service.
Michael Yates is Matt’s father and part owner of Hill City Music Repair. He recently retired from a 40 year caeer at R. R. Donnelley & Sons printing company as a professional electrician. He has also farmed his entire life, owned and operated Brookneal Farm Store and currently ownes and operates Two Rivers Farms and Apiaries just outside of Brookneal, Virginia. Because of his expert mechanical ability and love of polishing metals, Mike is a great asset to our musical instrument repair trade.
