Oiling Rotary Valves
Oiling Rotary Valves
Areas which require oiling on a rotary valve.
1. The Rotary Valve Body can be oiled through the shortest tubes leading to the rotor casing. This
is often done through the bell/slide receiver.
2. The Rotary Valve Spindles are oiled in two places (note: Thayer Rotary Valves only have one
spindle requiring oil):
a. Remove the rotor cap from the back of the rotor. Place one drop of rotor oil in the center
well of the spindle.
b. Place one drop on the other spindle between the rotor stop and the rotor casing.
3. The Lever used to operate the rotor will often have pivot points with need to be oiled. Use a
thicker oil here.
